Unfortunately you will find too many hills and vehicles in Macau to enjoy cycling, but don't worry you will find Coloane and Taipa Islands can very enjoyable for cycling and bikes can be rented on Taipa Island near the Tin Hau Temple.


• Taipa Island Cycling - There are two hills that are suitable for cycling in Taipa, Taipa Grande and Taipa Pequena, are circled by nature trails which provide panoramic views of the entire Macau area. The Taipa Grande trail is reached by way of a short paved road off the Estrada Colonel Nicolau de Mesquita, near the United Chinese Cemetery. Adjacent to the trail on the east side of Taipa Grande, near the airport, is the Taipa Grande Nature Park. The Taipa Pequena trail can be accessed from the Estrada Lou Lim Ieoc, behind the Regency Hotel. Bicycles for touring the islands are available from a rental kiosk near the bus stop adjacent to Museum of Taipa and Coloane History in Taipa Village. Taipa Grande the larger one of the two (set near the airport on the east side of the Island) is great for mountain bikes since the trails are unpaved. The smaller hill on the other side of the island (western side) has a paved road circling around it so its well suitable for any kind of bikes.

• Coloane Island Cycling - At Coloane Island you will find a large hilly area right at the center of the island which gets crossed by numerous unpaved roads offering mountain bikers different levels of biking and challenges. This is probably the most popular place for mountain bikers currently on the nearby islands and so it tends to get crowded at times, an early start is advisable to avoid the crowds. You can rent bicycles at Rua Governador Tamagnini Barbosa in Taipa village although if your an experienced biker you wont find the selection very good.
