Pedicabs are the slowest but also the most romantic and venerable way of experiencing the long sweep of the Praia Grande Bay, and the older and traditional streets downtown. Macau's pedicabs are looking a lot smarter these days, since they've been given an overhaul, with new paint and welcome mats, and bright yellow uniforms for their drivers.
Main locations for catching a cycle-rickshaw are: outside the Maritime Terminal and opposite the main door of the Lisboa Hotel. The pedicab, or tricycle rickshaw, is a liesurely and romantic form of transport around the waterfronts of Macau (it is not designed for hill climbing), and offers visitors a chance to see and photograph the sights, while chatting with the drivers. The main locations for hiring a pedicab are outside the Macau Ferry Terminal and opposite the main door of the Lisboa Hotel. Pedicab usually charge MOP$150.00 per hour. You should agree on the price before starting your trip.
Although the numbers of drivers have dwindled through the years, the custom of seeing Macau's scenic spots from a gently gliding bicycle-powered passenger vehicle is still a popular pastime for tourists and even the occasional local resident.
The Macau pedicabs date back to 1930's when Macau was not much developed and was fishing village. During this time cars and buses were not available and pedicabs became important public means of transport. They could carry both people and goods around the city.
